According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Warren County is home to 18735 inhabitants. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 17541, It is 64th most populous county in Illinois. It covers total area of 543.17 mi˛ (1406.8 square kilometre), of which, 542.52 square miles (1405.12 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.65 square miles (1.68 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 49th largest by area in the U.S. state of Illinois.

In the county the population was spread out, with 23.2% under the age of 18, 12.4% from 18 to 24, 24.5% from 25 to 44, 23.6% from 45 to 64, and 16.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 93.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.1 males. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 17541, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 95.76% White, 2.12% Black or African American, 0.23% American Indian, 0.66% Asian, 0.15% Native Hawaiian, and 1.07% from two or more races.
