Wanaque Borough is a one of the Passaic County, New Jersey, located in Northeastern Region (Mid-Atlantic) of United States. The population of borough in 2000 stood at 10266 as per the Census data. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the borough is 12195, It is the 165th most populous in the U.S. state of New Jersey. It has total area of 9.21 mi˛ (23.85 sq km), of which, 7.98 square miles (20.67 sq km) of it is land and 1.23 square miles (3.19 sq km) of it is water, makes it the 43rd largest by total area in New Jersey.

As of the census of 2000, there were 10266 residents, 457 households, and 284 families in the borough. The population density was 1286.8 people per square mile (496.84/km˛), it is New Jersey's 102nd least densely populated borough. There were 3500 housing units at an average density of 438.6 per square mile (169.34/km˛). The average household size was 2.86 persons, and the average family size was 3.23 persons. In the borough the population was spread out, with 24.4% under the age of 18, 6.9% from 18 to 24, 31.7% from 25 to 44, 25% from 45 to 64, and 12% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 107.1 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 109.4 females. The median age was 37.6 years, The median age of males was 36.7 years, for females the median age was 38.6 years. The racial makeup of the borough was 9308 White, 155 Black or African American, 35 American Indian, 372 Asian, 3 Native Hawaiian, 182 from two or more races and 211 Ohter races.
