Walworth County, South Dakota is a county located in the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. As per the 2000 census, county has a population of 5974 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 5238, making it the 35th most populous county in South Dakota. It is spread over 744.22 sq mi (1927.52 kmē), of which, 707.81 square miles (1833.22 kmē ) of it is land and 36.41 square miles (94.3 kmē) of it is water, making it South Dakota's 45th largest county by total area.

As of the census of 2000, there were 5974 people in the county, organized into 2506 households, and 1643 families living in the county. The population density was 8.4 people per square mile (3.24/kmē), giving it the 24th most densely populated county among the South Dakota. There were 3144 housing units at an average density of 4.4 per square mile (1.7/kmē). The average household size was 2.31 people, and the average family size was 2.89 people. In the county Population was distributed with 24.1% under the age of 18, 6.5% from 18 to 24, 22.4% from 25 to 44, 25% from 45 to 64, and 21.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 94.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.3 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 5238, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 82.88% White, 0.08% Black or African American, 14.93% American Indian, 0.17% Asian, 0.04% Native Hawaiian, and 1.91% from two or more races.
