Walthall County is a county located in Mississippi, in the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 15156. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 15416, giving it the 25th smallest population among Mississippi's county. It is spread over 404.44 square miles (1047.49 kmē), of which, 403.82 square miles (1045.89 kmē ) of it is land and 0.62 square miles (1.61 kmē) of it is water, it is the second smallest in terms of geographical size.

The population density was 37.5 people per square mile (14.48/kmē), giving it the 47th most densely populated county among the Mississippi. There were 6418 housing units at an average density of 15.9 per square mile (6.14/kmē). The average household size was 2.69 persons, and the average family size was 3.19 persons. In the county Age distribution was 28.4% under the age of 18, 9.9% from 18 to 24, 25.4% from 25 to 44, 22.3% from 45 to 64, and 14.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 109.3 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 116.1 females.
