Waldo County is a one of the county from Maine's 16 counties, located in Northeastern Region (New England) of United States. Waldo County had an official population of 36280 in 2000. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 38342, making it Maine's 11th largest county. The county comprises an area of 852.74 square miles (2208.59 square kilometre), of which, 729.73 square miles (1889.99 square kilometre) of it is land and 123.01 square miles (318.59 square kilometre) of it is water, making it Maine's fourth smallest county by total area.

As of the census of 2000, there were 36280 people, 14726 households, and 10053 families residing in the county. The population density was 49.7 people per square mile (19.19/kmē), it is eighth most densely populated county in Maine. There were 18904 housing units at an average density of 25.9 per square mile (10/kmē). The average household size was 2.43 people, and the average family size was 2.88 people. Age range in the county was well distributed with 24.2% under the age of 18, 7.5% from 18 to 24, 27.8% from 25 to 44, 26.8% from 45 to 64, and 13.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 96.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.8 males.
