Wakulla County is a one of the county from Florida's 67 counties, located in Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 22863 inhabitants. In July 2008, its estimated population was 31089, It is 19th least populous county in Florida. It has total area of 735.74 sq mi (1905.56 square kilometre), of which, 606.66 square miles (1571.24 square kilometre) of it is land and 129.08 square miles (334.32 square kilometre) of it is water, giving it the 41st largest by total area among Florida's county.

As of the census of 2000, there were 22863 people in the county, organized into 8450 households, and 6237 families living in the county. The population density was 37.7 people per square mile (14.56/kmē), it is Florida's 15th least densely populated county. There were 9820 housing units at an average density of 16.2 per square mile (6.25/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.57 persons, and the average family size was 2.99 persons. Age range in the county was well distributed with 25.6% under the age of 18, 7.6% from 18 to 24, 31.7% from 25 to 44, 24.7% from 45 to 64, and 10.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 107.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 106.8 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 31089, The racial makeup of the county was 84.4% White, 13.48% Black or African American, 0.5% American Indian, 0.5% Asian, 0.03% Native Hawaiian, and 1.1% from two or more races.
