Wainwright City, Alaska is a city of the North Slope Borough, Alaska, United States. The city has a population of 546 as per the 2000 census data. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 485, giving it the 104th largest population among Alaska. The city extends throughout a territory of 42.45 mi˛ (109.94 sq km ), of which, 17.56 square miles (45.48 sq km) of it is land and 24.89 square miles (64.46 sq km) of it is water, makes it the 128th largest by total area in Alaska. It is ranks 19 in the size of its inland waterways in Alaska.
