According to the 2000 census it had a population of 4271 inhabitants. making it the 86th most populous in Hawaii. The census designated place comprises an area of 3.05 mi˛ (7.9 sq km), of which, 1.63 square miles (4.22 sq km) of it is land and 1.42 square miles (3.68 sq km) of it is water, it is the 30th smallest by area in the U.S. state of Hawaii.
