Wabash County is a one of the county from Illinois's 102 counties, located in Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 12937. Its population was estimated at 12047 in July 2008, It is the 17th smallest county by population in the U.S. state of Illinois. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 227.76 sq mi (589.9 kmē), of which, 223.47 square miles (578.78 kmē) of it is land and 4.29 square miles (11.11 kmē) of it is water, making it the fifth smallest by size in Illinois.

The population density was 57.9 people per square mile (22.36/kmē), it is the 45th most populated county in terms of population density. There were 5758 housing units at an average density of 25.8 per square mile (9.96/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.46 persons, and the average family size was 2.98 persons. In the county the population was spread out, with 24.2% under the age of 18, 9.1% from 18 to 24, 26.4% from 25 to 44, 23.3% from 45 to 64, and 17% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 95.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.7 males. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 12047, The racial makeup of the county was 97.22% White, 0.61% Black or African American, 0.22% American Indian, 0.81% Asian, 0.07% Native Hawaiian, and 1.08% from two or more races.
