Vinton Town, Louisiana


Vinton Town is a town located in Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana, in the Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 3338 inhabitants. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 3255, It is the 143rd largest in terms of population. The town has a total area of 4.95 sq mi (12.82 square kilometre), of which, 4.85 square miles (12.56 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.26 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 125th largest by area in the U.S. state of Louisiana.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 3338 people, 400 households, and 290 families residing in the town. The population density was 688.5 people per square mile (265.83/kmē), making it the 197th most densely populated town in Louisiana. Age range in the town was well distributed with 29.8% under the age of 18, 9.2% from 18 to 24, 27.5% from 25 to 44, 21.4% from 45 to 64, and 12.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 91.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 86.7 males. The median age is 33.8 years, the median age of male residents at 32.5 and the median age of female residents at 35.4. The racial or ethnic makeup of the town was 74.57% White, 23.31% Black or African American, 0.6% American Indian, 0.21% Asian, 0.09% Native Hawaiian, 1.14% from two or more races and 0.09% Other races.
