Vinton County is a county located in the United States of Ohio. In 2000, county's population was 12806 inhabitants. The July 2008 population estimate is 13281, It is Ohio's least populous county. The county encompasses an area of 414.96 sq mi (1074.74 sq km ), of which, 414.08 square miles (1072.46 sq km) of it is land and 0.88 square miles (2.28 sq km) of it is water, makes it the 23rd smallest by total area in Ohio.

In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 26.9% under the age of 18, 8.8% from 18 to 24, 29% from 25 to 44, 23.1% from 45 to 64, and 12.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 99.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.5 males. The July 2008 population estimate is 13281, The racial makeup of the county was 12970 White, 97 Black or African American, 65 American Indian, 9 Asian, 0 Native Hawaiian, and 140 from two or more races.
