Vernon City is a city located in the Lamar County, Alabama, United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 2143 inhabitants. In July 2008, its estimated population was 1893, making it the 186th most populous in Alabama. The city comprises an area of 5.92 square miles (15.33 square kilometre), makes it the 219th largest by total area in Alabama.
