Vermillion County is a county in the United States of Indiana. In 2000, county's population was 16788 inhabitants. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 16234, making it the 14th least populous county in Indiana. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 259.94 mi˛ (673.24 sq km), of which, 256.89 square miles (665.34 sq km) of it is land and 3.05 square miles (7.9 sq km) of it is water, making it the ninth smallest by size in Indiana.

In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 23.8% under the age of 18, 8.1% from 18 to 24, 27.5% from 25 to 44, 24.9% from 45 to 64, and 15.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 95 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92 males. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 16234, The racial makeup of the county was 97.89% White, 0.85% Black or African American, 0.26% American Indian, 0.12% Asian, 0.02% Native Hawaiian, and 0.85% from two or more races.
