Vergennes City is a city located in the Addison County, Vermont, United States. Vergennes City had an official population of 2741 in 2000. Its population was estimated at 2666 in July 2008, It is 18th most populous in Vermont. The city encompasses an area of 2.5 sq mi (6.47 square kilometre ), of which, 2.4 square miles (6.22 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.26 square kilometre) of it is water, making it the 23rd largest by size in Vermont. It is ranks tenth in the size of its inland waterways in Vermont.
