Van Wert County is a county located in Ohio, in the Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. In 2000, the population was 29659. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 28748, making it the 13th least populous county in Ohio. The county comprises an area of 410.49 sq mi (1063.16 sq km), of which, 410.09 square miles (1062.13 sq km) of it is land and 0.4 square miles (1.04 sq km) of it is water, giving it the 15th smallest by total area among Ohio's county.
