Van Wert City is a one of the Van Wert County, Ohio, located in Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. As per the 2000 census, city has a population of 10690 inhabitants. The city's estimated population as of July 2008 was 10211, It is Ohio's 172nd largest by population . The city comprises an area of 6.11 mi˛ (15.82 sq km), of which, 5.93 square miles (15.36 sq km) of it is land and 0.18 square miles (0.47 sq km) of it is water, makes it the 168th largest by total area in Ohio.

As of the census of 2000, there were 10690 people, 4556 households, and 2946 families living in the city. The population density was 1803.8 people per square mile (696.45/km˛), it is Ohio's 365th most densely populated city.
