Van Meter City is a United States city located in the Dallas County, Iowa, United States. Van Meter City had an official population of 866 in 2000. The city's estimated population as of July 2008 was 1208, making it the 323rd most populous in Iowa. Its area is just over 0.62 sq mi (1.61 kmē), of which, 0.6 square miles (1.55 kmē) of it is land and 0.02 square miles (0.05 kmē) of it is water, giving it the 547th largest by total area among Iowa.
