Valparaiso City is a city in the Okaloosa County, Florida, United States. As per the 2000 census, city has a population of 6408 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the city is 6030, It is 366th most populous in Florida. The city comprises an area of 12.75 square miles (33.02 sq km), of which, 11.94 square miles (30.92 sq km) of it is land and 0.81 square miles (2.1 sq km) of it is water, it is the 146th largest by area in the U.S. state of Florida.

As of the census of 2000, there were 6408 people in the city, organized into 1928 households, and 1285 families living in the city. The population density was 536.8 people per square mile (207.26/kmē), giving it the 175th least densely populated city among the Florida. There were 2023 housing units at an average density of 169.4 per square mile (65.41/kmē). The average household size was 2.36 and the average family size was 2.87. In the city Age distribution was 16.8% under the age of 18, 20.1% from 18 to 24, 31.9% from 25 to 44, 20.3% from 45 to 64, and 10.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 164.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 181.6 males. The median age of the city's population was 33.5 years, the median age of male residents at 32.1 and the median age of female residents at 36.1. The racial or ethnic makeup of the city was 80.77% White, 9.91% Black or African American, 0.64% American Indian, 2.67% Asian, 0.11% Native Hawaiian, 2.9% from two or more races and 3% Other races.
