In 2000, census designated place's population was 11599 inhabitants. making it the 14th most populous in Rhode Island. It covers total area of 3.66 sq mi (9.48 square kilometre), of which, 3.55 square miles (9.19 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.11 square miles (0.28 square kilometre) of it is water, giving it the eighth smallest by total area among Rhode Island.
