Union County is a United States county located in the United States of Tennessee. The population of county in 2000 stood at 17808 as per the Census data. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 19008, It is the 29th smallest in terms of population. It covers total area of 247.13 square miles (640.06 sq km), of which, 223.56 square miles (579.02 sq km) of it is land and 23.57 square miles (61.05 sq km) of it is water, it is the tenth smallest by area in the U.S. state of Tennessee.

In the county the population was spread out, with 25.7% under the age of 18, 8.9% from 18 to 24, 31% from 25 to 44, 23.6% from 45 to 64, and 10.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 101.2 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 103.5 females. In July 2008, its estimated population was 19008, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 18652 White, 109 Black or African American, 45 American Indian, 29 Asian, 3 Native Hawaiian, and 170 from two or more races.
