Union County is a county located in Florida, in the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. As per the 2000 census, county has a population of 13442 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 15141, It is ninth least populous county in Florida. The county comprises an area of 249.71 mi˛ (646.75 square kilometre), of which, 240.29 square miles (622.35 square kilometre) of it is land and 9.42 square miles (24.4 square kilometre) of it is water, makes it the smallest by total area in Florida.

As of the census of 2000, there were 13442 residents, 3367 households, and 2606 families in the county. The population density was 55.9 people per square mile (21.58/km˛), it would be the 43rd most densely populated county in the U.S. state of Florida. There were 3736 housing units at an average density of 15.5 per square mile (5.98/km˛). The average household size was 2.76 and the average family size was 3.13. In the county the population was spread out, with 21.8% under the age of 18, 8.7% from 18 to 24, 39.8% from 25 to 44, 22.2% from 45 to 64, and 7.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 183 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 215.2 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 15141, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 11033 White, 3722 Black or African American, 108 American Indian, 54 Asian, 4 Native Hawaiian, and 220 from two or more races.
