Unicoi County, Tennessee is a county located in the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. The county has a population of 17667 as per the 2000 census data. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 17718, It is the 25th smallest county by population in the U.S. state of Tennessee. The county has a total area of 186.49 miē (483.01 kmē), of which, 186.14 square miles (482.1 kmē) of it is land and 0.35 square miles (0.91 kmē) of it is water, it is the fifth smallest by area in the U.S. state of Tennessee.

The population's age distribution was 20.5% under the age of 18, 7.5% from 18 to 24, 27.5% from 25 to 44, 26.5% from 45 to 64, and 18.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 95.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.6 males. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 17718, The racial makeup of the county was 17406 White, 118 Black or African American, 54 American Indian, 15 Asian, 5 Native Hawaiian, and 120 from two or more races.
