Umatilla City, Umatilla County, Oregon is a city located in the Western Region (Pacific) of United States. The population of the city was 4978 as per the 2000 census data. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the city is 6280, giving it the 89th largest population among Oregon. The city extends throughout a territory of 3.73 square miles (9.66 kmē ), of which, 3.52 square miles (9.12 kmē) of it is land and 0.21 square miles (0.54 kmē) of it is water, it is the 78th largest by area in the U.S. state of Oregon.

As of the census of 2000, there were 4978 people in the city, organized into 16 households, and 12 families living in the city. The population density was 1415.3 people per square mile (546.45/kmē), making it the 149th most densely populated city in Oregon. There were 1511 housing units at an average density of 429.3 per square mile (165.75/kmē). The average household size was 3.14 and the average family size was 3.51. In the city the population was distributed as follows: 31% under the age of 18, 12.1% from 18 to 24, 34.7% from 25 to 44, 16.5% from 45 to 64, and 5.7% who were 65 or older. The median age was 28.6 years, the median age of male residents at 29.6 and the median age of female residents at 26.7. The racial or ethnic makeup of the city was 72.1% White, 2.69% Black or African American, 1.35% American Indian, 0.38% Asian, 0.06% Native Hawaiian, 1.93% from two or more races and 21.49% Other races.
