Ulysses City is a United States city located in the Grant County, Kansas, United States. The population of the city was 5960 as per the 2000 census data. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the city is 5557, It is 50th most populous in Kansas. It is spread over 2.93 sq mi (7.59 kmē), of which, 2.89 square miles (7.49 kmē ) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 kmē) of it is water, giving it the 73rd largest by total area among Kansas.

As of the census of 2000, there were 5960 people, 2086 households, and 1578 families residing in the city.
