Uinta County, Wyoming


Uinta County is a county located in the United States of Wyoming. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 19742 inhabitants. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 20617, It is the ninth most populous county in the U.S. state of Wyoming. The county extends throughout a territory of 2087.56 square miles (5406.76 square kilometre ), of which, 2081.66 square miles (5391.47 square kilometre) of it is land and 5.9 square miles (15.28 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the second smallest by area in the U.S. state of Wyoming.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 19742 people, 6823 households, and 5147 families residing in the county. The population density was 9.5 people per square mile (3.67/kmē), making it the fourth most densely populated county in Wyoming. There were 8011 housing units at an average density of 3.8 per square mile (1.47/kmē). The average household size was 2.84 persons, and the average family size was 3.31 persons. In the county Age distribution was 33.5% under the age of 18, 9% from 18 to 24, 29.2% from 25 to 44, 21.4% from 45 to 64, and 7% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 96.4 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 99.7 females. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 20617, The racial makeup of the county was 19992 White, 58 Black or African American, 237 American Indian, 75 Asian, 14 Native Hawaiian, and 241 from two or more races.
