Tyler County is a county in the United States of West Virginia. Tyler County had an official population of 9592 in 2000. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 8841, making it the ninth least populous county in West Virginia. The county spans an area of 260.69 sq mi (675.18 square kilometre), of which, 257.56 square miles (667.08 square kilometre) of it is land and 3.14 square miles (8.13 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the ninth smallest by area in the U.S. state of West Virginia.

The population density was 37.2 people per square mile (14.36/kmē), making it the 36th most densely populated county in West Virginia. In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 23.3% under the age of 18, 6.5% from 18 to 24, 26.9% from 25 to 44, 26.9% from 45 to 64, and 16.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 95.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.9 males. The July 2008 population estimate is 8841, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 99.19% White, 0.06% Black or African American, 0.06% American Indian, 0.1% Asian, 0.01% Native Hawaiian, and 0.59% from two or more races.
