Tuscaloosa County is a United States county located in the United States of Alabama. Tuscaloosa County had an official population of 164875 in 2000. Its population was estimated at 179448 in July 2008, giving it the sixth largest population among Alabama's county. The county comprises an area of 1351.23 square miles (3499.67 sq km), of which, 1324.37 square miles (3430.1 sq km) of it is land and 26.85 square miles (69.54 sq km) of it is water, it is the third largest by area in the U.S. state of Alabama.
