Tunica County is a county located in the United States of Mississippi. It is home to over 9227 people (2000 census). The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 10448, making it the 13th least populous county in Mississippi. The county spans an area of 480.78 sq mi (1245.21 square kilometre), of which, 454.81 square miles (1177.95 square kilometre) of it is land and 25.97 square miles (67.26 square kilometre) of it is water, makes it the 26th smallest by total area in Mississippi.

The population density was 20.3 people per square mile (7.84/kmē), it is the 13th least populated county in terms of population density. There were 3705 housing units at an average density of 8.1 per square mile (3.13/kmē). The average household size was 2.8 and the average family size was 3.44. Age range in the county was well distributed with 31.5% under the age of 18, 10.9% from 18 to 24, 27.4% from 25 to 44, 20.2% from 45 to 64, and 10.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 91.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 85.9 males.
