Tucumcari City, Quay County, New Mexico is a city located in the Western Region (Mountain) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 5989. In July 2008, its estimated population was 5268, making it New Mexico's 40th largest. It covers total area of 7.56 sq mi (19.58 sq km), of which, 7.54 square miles (19.53 sq km) of it is land and 0.01 square miles (0.03 sq km) of it is water, making it the 66th largest by size in New Mexico.

The population density was 793.8 people per square mile (306.49/kmē), it is the 60th most populated city in terms of population density.
