Truth Or Consequences City is a United States city located in the Sierra County, New Mexico, United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 7289 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 6784, It is the 30th most populous in the U.S. state of New Mexico. The city has a total area of 12.77 mi˛ (33.07 sq km), of which, 12.65 square miles (32.76 sq km) of it is land and 0.11 square miles (0.28 sq km) of it is water, making it the 38th largest by size in New Mexico. It is ranks 20 in the size of its inland waterways in New Mexico.

As of the census of 2000, there were 7289 people, 457 households, and 284 families residing in the city. The population density was 576 people per square mile (222.39/km˛), making it the 83rd most densely populated city in New Mexico. There were 4445 housing units at an average density of 351.4 per square mile (135.68/km˛). The average household size was 2.04 persons, and the average family size was 2.75 persons. In the Truth Or Consequences City, 20.2% of the population was under the age of 18, 5.7% were 18 to 24, 20.1% were 25 to 44, 24.6% were 45 to 64, and 29.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 96.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.4 males.
