Troy City, Lincoln County, Missouri is a city located in the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. The city has a population of 6737 as per the 2000 census data. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 12270, It is the 105th largest in terms of population. The city comprises an area of 5.95 mi˛ (15.41 sq km), of which, 5.94 square miles (15.38 sq km) of it is land and 0.01 square miles (0.03 sq km) of it is water, it is the 100th largest by area in the U.S. state of Missouri.

As of the census of 2000, there were 6737 people in the city, organized into 2521 households, and 1748 families living in the city. The population density was 1134.5 people per square mile (438.03/km˛), making it the 321st most densely populated city in Missouri. There were 2661 housing units at an average density of 448 per square mile (172.97/km˛). The average household size was 2.56 persons, and the average family size was 3.1 persons. In the city the population was distributed as follows: 29.8% under the age of 18, 9.2% from 18 to 24, 30.6% from 25 to 44, 16.4% from 45 to 64, and 14% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 87.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 83.7 males. The median age was 32.1 years, the median age of male residents at 30.9 and the median age of female residents at 33.2. The racial makeup of the city was 93.87% White, 2.86% Black or African American, 0.39% American Indian, 0.13% Asian, 0.01% Native Hawaiian, 1.93% from two or more races and 0.8% Other races.
