Trousdale County is a one of the county from Tennessee's 95 counties, located in Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. In 2000, the population was 7259. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 7822, making it Tennessee's eighth smallest county. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 116.64 miē (302.1 kmē), of which, 114.24 square miles (295.88 kmē) of it is land and 2.4 square miles (6.22 kmē) of it is water, it is the smallest by area in the U.S. state of Tennessee.

As of the census of 2000, there were 7259 people, 2780 households, and 2036 families residing in the county. The population density was 63.5 people per square mile (24.52/kmē), it is the 48th most densely populated county in the U.S. state of Tennessee. There were 3095 housing units at an average density of 27.1 per square mile (10.46/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.55 persons, and the average family size was 2.99 persons. The population's age distribution was 24.2% under the age of 18, 8.5% from 18 to 24, 28.1% from 25 to 44, 24.9% from 45 to 64, and 14.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 96.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.4 males. The July 2008 population estimate is 7822, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 6908 White, 809 Black or African American, 19 American Indian, 7 Asian, 2 Native Hawaiian, and 77 from two or more races.
