Tripp County is one of the 66 county of South Dakota, located towards the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. The county has a population of 6430 as per the 2000 census data. The July 2008 population estimate is 5681, It is the 30th most populous county in the U.S. state of South Dakota. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1617.4 miē (4189.05 kmē), of which, 1613.52 square miles (4179 kmē) of it is land and 3.88 square miles (10.05 kmē) of it is water, giving it the 15th largest by total area among South Dakota's county.
