Trinity County is one of the 58 county of California, located towards the Western Region (Pacific) of United States. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Trinity County is home to 13022 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 14317, It is California's fifth least populous county. It has total area of 3207.54 miē (8307.49 kmē), of which, 3178.61 square miles (8232.56 kmē) of it is land and 28.93 square miles (74.93 kmē) of it is water, making it California's 19th largest county by total area.

The population density was 4.1 people per square mile (1.58/kmē), giving it the fifth least densely populated county among the California. There were 7980 housing units at an average density of 2.5 per square mile (0.97/kmē). The average household size was 2.29 and the average family size was 2.8. In the county Age distribution was 22.8% under the age of 18, 5.1% from 18 to 24, 22.7% from 25 to 44, 32.1% from 45 to 64, and 17.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 104.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 102.6 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 14317, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 89.65% White, 0.46% Black or African American, 5.1% American Indian, 0.79% Asian, 0.11% Native Hawaiian, and 3.89% from two or more races.
