Trinidad City, Las Animas County, Colorado is a city located in the Western Region (Mountain) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 9078 inhabitants. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 9125, giving it the 55th largest population among Colorado. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 6.31 mi˛ (16.34 square kilometre), it is the 76th largest by area in the U.S. state of Colorado.

As of the census of 2000, there were 9078 people in the city, organized into 3701 households, and 2334 families living in the city. The population density was 1439.4 people per square mile (555.76/km˛), making it the 124th most densely populated city in Colorado. There were 4126 housing units at an average density of 653.9 per square mile (252.47/km˛). The average household size was 2.36 persons, and the average family size was 2.98 persons. In the city the population was distributed as follows: 24.9% under the age of 18, 9.4% from 18 to 24, 24.2% from 25 to 44, 22.6% from 45 to 64, and 18.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 92.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.8 males. The median age of the city's population was 38.9 years, The median age of males was 37.2 years, for females the median age was 40.5 years. The racial makeup of the city was 7260 White, 49 Black or African American, 274 American Indian, 39 Asian, 13 Native Hawaiian, 343 from two or more races and 1100 Ohter races.
