Traill County is a United States county located in the United States of North Dakota. In 2000, the population was 8477. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 7820, It is the 16th largest county by population in the U.S. state of North Dakota. The county has a total area of 862.53 sq mi (2233.94 sq km), of which, 861.89 square miles (2232.28 sq km) of it is land and 0.65 square miles (1.68 sq km) of it is water, it is the sixth smallest in terms of geographical size.

For every 100 males there were 99.2 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 102.1 females. In July 2008, its estimated population was 7820, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 97.77% White, 0.26% Black or African American, 1.29% American Indian, 0.22% Asian, 0.01% Native Hawaiian, and 0.45% from two or more races.
