Traer City is a city in the Tama County, Iowa, United States. It is home to over 1594 people (2000 census). Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 1568, giving it the 189th largest population among Iowa. It covers total area of 1.1 sq mi (2.85 sq km), makes it the 325th largest by total area in Iowa.
