Its area is just over 56.98 square miles (147.58 kmē), of which, 56.01 square miles (145.07 kmē) of it is land and 0.97 square miles (2.51 kmē) of it is water, it is the third largest by area in the U.S. state of Kansas. It is ranks fourth in the size of its inland waterways in Kansas.
