Tooele County is one of the 29 county of Utah, located towards the Western Region (Mountain) of United States. The county has a population of 40735 as per the 2000 census data. The July 2008 population estimate is 56941, It is Utah's seventh most populous county. It covers total area of 7287.12 mi˛ (18873.55 sq km), of which, 6930.35 square miles (17949.52 sq km) of it is land and 356.76 square miles (924 sq km) of it is water, it is the second largest by area in the U.S. state of Utah. It is ranks second in the size of its inland waterways in Utah.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 40735 people, 12677 households, and 10126 families living in the county. The population density was 5.9 people per square mile (2.28/km˛), it is 15th most densely populated county in Utah. There were 13812 housing units at an average density of 2 per square mile (0.77/km˛). The average household size was 3.11 and the average family size was 3.51. In the county Population was distributed with 35% under the age of 18, 11.5% from 18 to 24, 29.5% from 25 to 44, 16.6% from 45 to 64, and 7.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 97 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.4 males. The July 2008 population estimate is 56941, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 93.81% White, 1.66% Black or African American, 1.58% American Indian, 0.93% Asian, 0.4% Native Hawaiian, and 1.62% from two or more races.
