Tippah County is a United States county located in the United States of Mississippi. The population of county in 2000 stood at 20826 as per the Census data. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 21210, It is the 45th largest in terms of population. It is spread over 459.97 sq mi (1191.32 sq km), of which, 457.91 square miles (1185.98 sq km ) of it is land and 2.07 square miles (5.36 sq km) of it is water, it is the 23rd smallest by area in the U.S. state of Mississippi.

The population density was 45.5 people per square mile (17.57/kmē), making its Mississippi's 41st most densely populated county. There were 8868 housing units at an average density of 19.4 per square mile (7.49/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.52 persons, and the average family size was 3 persons. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 25% under the age of 18, 10.1% from 18 to 24, 27.9% from 25 to 44, 22.5% from 45 to 64, and 14.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 93.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.2 males. Its population was estimated at 21210 in July 2008, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 17346 White, 3564 Black or African American, 85 American Indian, 32 Asian, 3 Native Hawaiian, and 180 from two or more races.
