Tillman County is one of the 77 county of Oklahoma, located towards the Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 9287. In July 2008, its estimated population was 7899, It is the 15th least populous county in the U.S. state of Oklahoma. The county has a total area of 879.21 sq mi (2277.14 sq km), of which, 871.97 square miles (2258.39 sq km) of it is land and 7.25 square miles (18.78 sq km) of it is water, it is the 35th largest by area in the U.S. state of Oklahoma.

As of the census of 2000, there were 9287 people in the county, organized into 3594 households, and 2486 families residing in the county. The population density was 10.7 people per square mile (4.13/kmē), it would be the 18th least densely populated county in the U.S. state of Oklahoma. There were 4342 housing units at an average density of 5 per square mile (1.93/kmē). The average household size was 2.48 and the average family size was 3.05. In the Tillman County, 26.7% of the population was under the age of 18, 7.2% were 18 to 24, 24% were 25 to 44, 22.8% were 45 to 64, and 19.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 96.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90 males. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 7899, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 83.61% White, 9.49% Black or African American, 3.39% American Indian, 0.84% Asian, 0.06% Native Hawaiian, and 2.61% from two or more races.
