Thurston County is a county located in Washington, in the Western Region (Pacific) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 207355. In July 2008, its estimated population was 245181, making it Washington's sixth largest county. The county encompasses an area of 773.64 square miles (2003.72 kmē ), of which, 727.02 square miles (1882.97 kmē) of it is land and 46.62 square miles (120.75 kmē) of it is water, it is the eighth smallest in terms of geographical size.

The population density was 285.2 people per square mile (110.12/kmē), giving it the seventh most densely populated county among the Washington. There were 86652 housing units at an average density of 119.2 per square mile (46.02/kmē). The average household size was 2.5 persons, and the average family size was 2.99 persons. Age range in the county was well distributed with 25.3% under the age of 18, 9.3% from 18 to 24, 29.3% from 25 to 44, 24.6% from 45 to 64, and 11.4% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 96 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.7 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 245181, The racial makeup of the county was 211444 White, 7668 Black or African American, 4091 American Indian, 12008 Asian, 1356 Native Hawaiian, and 8614 from two or more races.
