Throop Borough, Pennsylvania is a borough of the Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, United States. As of 2000 the population was 4010. In July 2008, its estimated population was 4051, making it the 359th most populous in Pennsylvania. The borough spans an area of 5.04 square miles (13.05 kmē), it is the 108th largest by area in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania.

As of the census of 2000, there were 4010 people, 1709 households, and 1136 families living in the borough. The population density was 796.3 people per square mile (307.45/kmē), giving it the 361st least densely populated borough among the Pennsylvania. There were 1813 housing units at an average density of 359.7 per square mile (138.88/kmē). The average household size was 2.34 persons, and the average family size was 2.93 persons.
