Thornton City is a city located in the Adams and Weld counties, Colorado, United States. The population of the city was 82384 as per the 2000 census data. The July 2008 population estimate is 113429, It is tenth most populous in Colorado. The city encompasses an area of 27.2 sq mi (70.45 sq km ), of which, 26.86 square miles (69.57 sq km) of it is land and 0.34 square miles (0.88 sq km) of it is water, makes it the 22nd largest by total area in Colorado. It is ranks 14 in the size of its inland waterways in Colorado.
