Thomas County is a county located in the United States of Nebraska. It is home to over 729 people (2000 census). According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 583, making it the fourth least populous county in Nebraska. It is spread over 713.65 square miles (1848.35 kmē), of which, 712.86 square miles (1846.3 kmē ) of it is land and 0.79 square miles (2.05 kmē) of it is water, making it Nebraska's 39th largest county by total area.


As of the census of 2000, there were 729 people in the county, organized into 325 households, and 216 families residing in the county. The population density was 1 people per square mile (0.39/kmē), making it the sixth least densely populated county in Nebraska. There were 446 housing units at an average density of 0.6 per square mile (0.23/kmē). The average household size was 2.24 persons, and the average family size was 2.84 persons.
