The Colony City, Denton County, Texas is a city located in the Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 26531 inhabitants. The July 2008 population estimate is 42281, It is Texas's 91st largest by population . The city has a total area of 15.74 sq mi (40.77 sq km), of which, 13.66 square miles (35.38 sq km) of it is land and 2.07 square miles (5.36 sq km) of it is water, makes it the 155th largest by total area in Texas.

The racial or ethnic makeup of the city was 22409 White, 1375 Black or African American, 188 American Indian, 447 Asian, 12 Native Hawaiian, 695 from two or more races and 1405 Ohter races.
