Thayer County is a county in the United States of Nebraska. As of 2000 the population was 6055. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 5104, making it Nebraska's 55th largest county. The county encompasses an area of 575.3 sq mi (1490.02 square kilometre ), of which, 574.55 square miles (1488.08 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.75 square miles (1.94 square kilometre) of it is water, making it the 54th largest by size in Nebraska.
