Teton County, Montana


Teton County is a county located in the United States of Montana. The county has a population of 6445 as per the 2000 census data. In July 2008, its estimated population was 5992, making it Montana's 31st largest county. It is spread over 2292.58 sq mi (5937.75 sq km), of which, 2272.61 square miles (5886.03 sq km ) of it is land and 19.97 square miles (51.72 sq km) of it is water, it is the 31st largest by area in the U.S. state of Montana.

As of the census of 2000, there were 6445 people, 2538 households, and 1762 families residing in the county. The population density was 2.8 people per square mile (1.08/kmē), making its Montana's 28th most densely populated county. There were 2910 housing units at an average density of 1.3 per square mile (0.5/kmē). The average household size was 2.51 people, and the average family size was 3.09 people. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 27.3% under the age of 18, 6.1% from 18 to 24, 24.6% from 25 to 44, 25.4% from 45 to 64, and 16.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 97 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 5992, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 95.91% White, 0.2% Black or African American, 2.17% American Indian, 0.12% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, and 1.6% from two or more races.
