Terre Haute City is a city located in the Vigo County, Indiana, United States. Terre Haute City had an official population of 59614 in 2000. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 60007, It is the tenth most populous in the U.S. state of Indiana. It has total area of 32.1 sq mi (83.14 sq km), of which, 31.24 square miles (80.91 sq km) of it is land and 0.86 square miles (2.23 sq km) of it is water, makes it the ninth largest by total area in Indiana. It is ranks 20 in the size of its inland waterways in Indiana.

As of the census of 2000, there were 59614 people in the city, organized into 22870 households, and 13025 families residing in the city. The population density was 1908.4 people per square mile (736.84/kmē), making its Indiana's 189th most densely populated city.
