Teller County, Colorado


Teller County is one of the 63 county of Colorado, located towards the Western Region (Mountain) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 20555 inhabitants. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 21661, It is Colorado's 24th most populous county. The county spans an area of 558.96 square miles (1447.7 kmē), of which, 557.06 square miles (1442.78 kmē) of it is land and 1.89 square miles (4.9 kmē) of it is water, it is the eighth smallest by area in the U.S. state of Colorado.

As of the census of 2000, there were 20555 people, 7993 households, and 5925 families residing in the county. The population density was 36.9 people per square mile (14.25/kmē), giving it the 12th most densely populated county among the Colorado. There were 10362 housing units at an average density of 18.6 per square mile (7.18/kmē). The average household size was 2.56 people, and the average family size was 2.94 people. In the county the population was spread out, with 25.9% under the age of 18, 5.6% from 18 to 24, 31.2% from 25 to 44, 29.8% from 45 to 64, and 7.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 97.4 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 99.1 females. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 21661, The racial makeup of the county was 20470 White, 302 Black or African American, 261 American Indian, 171 Asian, 16 Native Hawaiian, and 441 from two or more races.
